It felt weird announcing a new Chasing Reels event without my hometown Utrecht involved, since unfortunately our beautiful location at ’t Hoogt is gone... Luckily, however, we are still able to show our film in Utrecht thanks to EKKO! This awesome venue not only brings you the coolest in music, but also in film! We will make sure there are good vibes, chairs, a screen and a projector, so we can join the Y2K-NYE together.
Tickets RSVPWe are proud to present: The Dutch premiere of RELAXER (Joel Potrykus). Set in 1999, just before the Y2K Apocalypse, a time where people got ready for modern society to end due to a computer glitch.
Great cinema is sometimes grand themes, dramatic camerawork, and sophisticated montage; or, it’s a guy playing “Pac Man” for 90 minutes.
That is what RELAXER is; one man, a video game, and maybe the end of the world.
"Relaxer is the most crazy and original film that I saw last year. This movie is fan-tas-tic and I was not ready for it at all when I saw it at SXSW. It was a hilarious trip that I’ll never forget and I am extremely proud to show it to Dutch audiences! So go get your tickets now..." says host Cedric Muyres, who will introduce the film.
EXTRA: Filmfestival Go Short will present a short before the film to get in the mood.
"All I’ve ever dreamed about is living on a couch, playing video games with no one bugging me. RELAXER is the nightmare version of my fantasy. "
Press on RELAXER:

"Absurd and brilliant" - The Playlist
"A borderline masterpiece of what the f#@k insanity." - the filmstage
“I often visit international filmfestivals and often see so many amazing movies that will never screen in Dutch cinemas, I aim to change that with Chasing Reels.”
– Cedric Muyres
